MY WISE OLD GRANDMOTHER |
This site is dedicated to the memory of Mary Agnes Kirk |
May Agnes Kirk was my paternal grandmother, who adopted me in December 1965 when she was almost 55 years old and I was three months shy of 11. The purpose of this site is to share the wisdom and knowledge that my wise old grandmother shared with me. I hope that you will spend some time with the elderly in your life so that we don’t lose what they have to offer. Talk with them, write down their stories, and share them with others! My wise old grandmother taught me a lot with her love of life; her knowledge about life, which came from the “school of hard knocks” (she had only a first-grade education), her wonderful words of wisdom, which I typed and put in my notebook; and her love of nature, of which cats, dogs, birds, and gardening were most prominent. She had a particular fondness for neglected, injured, or mistreated animals, and we were always adopting dogs and cats from the alley behind our house. Her other fondness was for music, and me playing both the piano and the violin, as well as being a singer, might have given her hope that she could make someone out of me. While I don’t necessarily think that today’s world is any more enamored with war, lies, deceit, sex, greed, negativity, and sports star worship than at any time in the past, it seems like it is. I would submit that it seems that way merely because there are now over six billion people on Earth. Couple that fact with the speed with which the media can cover such subjects, as well as the speed with which society members themselves can cover such subjects through YouTube, MySpace, etc., including this site, and we seem to be inundated with a lot of negativity. I hope to bring something positive to the world through this site, represented by the positive and beautiful words of knowledge and wisdom conveyed to me by my wise old grandmother. Her spirit lives on. Click on the picture of my wise old grandmother at the right to learn more about her, and click on any of the pictures at the upper right (they appear on every page) to learn more about me and my relationship with my wise old grandmother, and to enjoy the love that she shared with me, her adopted son. Perhaps you can find something inspirational here, or maybe I have some professional real estate, business, or marketing services that can help you. This is an ongoing project which I started on November 28, 2007, when I bought the domain name. Eventually this site will be open to all so that you can share those tidbits of knowledge and wisdom that your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, or anyone, really, has shared with you, and that you’d like to share with others. Please check back whenever you can to see what’s going on, and remember to tell your family, friends, and business associates about my wise old grandmother! Russel Ray (formerly Russel Ray Kirk) |
